Mathematician and computer scientist. I teach, I build software, and I brew beer, all grounded in first principles.
I'm a mathematician and computer scientist based in Cambridge, UK. My background is in formal reasoning, logic, and the role of representation in problem-solving.
After completing my PhD, I spent six years as a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge, working on heterogeneous reasoning and how the choice of representation shapes what we can discover.
Today I apply that same rigour across everything I do, whether that's teaching a student to write their first proof, building science-driven software, or dialling in a recipe for a perfect West Coast IPA.
Private tuition and maths competition coaching, from primary school to undergraduate level.
Web and app development, including a science-based beer brewing platform.
Proportion Brewing: custom beer brewed to specification in the Cambridge area.
Private tuition in mathematics and computer science at every level, plus competition preparation for schools. In-person in the Cambridge, UK area, or online anywhere.
Algebra, calculus, analysis, linear algebra, probability, and statistics. Emphasis on proof and problem-solving.
Programming, data structures, algorithms, and computational thinking. Python, Java, and functional approaches.
Formal logic, set theory, and proof techniques for students making the transition to rigorous mathematics.
Preparation for Maths Kangaroo and other mathematical competitions. I work with individual students and with primary and secondary schools to build problem-solving skills that go beyond the curriculum.
Multi-session courses that take a topic from foundations through to real depth.
Formal systems, from propositional and predicate logic through to Turing machines, decidability, and the limits of computation.
The mathematical toolkit for computer science: discrete structures, combinatorics, graph theory, number theory, and formal proof.
A science-first beer brewing application. Every calculation is grounded in the chemistry and physics of brewing, not rules of thumb.
Beyond recipe building, it integrates water treatment calculators, mash chemistry, and outcome prediction: what efficiency, attenuation, and flavour profile to expect given your water, grain bill, and process.
